Moishe Goldzweig, Religious Scribe at Mobile Sofer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in religious writing.

Since 2002, Mr. Goldzweig has provided superior service as a religious scribe with Mobile Sofer in Brooklyn, New York, in which his responsibilities include writing prayers in mezuzahs, which consist of pieces of parchment known as a klaf, contained in a decorative case and inscribed with specific Hebrew verses from the Torah. In addition, he inscribes prayers on scrolls placed inside tefillin, or sets of small black leather boxes with leather straps containing scrolls of parchment that are also inscribed with verses from the Torah. In addition, he inscribes Torah scrolls that are used in synagogues, homes and offices.

Mr. Goldzweig serves his community as a volunteer in Torah reading as a volunteer teacher in Jewish law with Partners in Torah, an organization providing instruction over the phone or on FaceTime. He attributes his success to practice and learning by watching others how to efficiently and neatly scribe.

As a career highlight, Mr. Goldzweig cites writing a Megillah, a scroll that displays the portion of the Talmud that includes laws concerning the public reading of the Torah and other communal synagogue practices and offers interpretations of the original and intended meaning of a passage of scripture, specifically those included in the Book of Esther. In the coming years, Mr. Goldzweig’s goal is to continue learning and become more knowledgeable about the Torah.
