From 1999 to 2001, he garnered experience as a pastor with the Open Door Baptist Church, and since 1985 he has been a pastor and national motivational speaker with Bennett Chapel. Mr. Martin is additionally the author of “Small Town, Big Miracle: How Love Came to the Least of These,” published in 2007.
In recognition of his career accomplishments, Mr. Martin has received numerous awards and accolades. He earned the National Fatherhood Initiative Award, the National Caring Award, the Dave Thomas Award, the National Black Family of the Year award, the Thomas F. Freeman Humanitarian Award, the First Humanitarian Award, the Essence Award, and the One Church One Child – Trudy Lawton Recruitment Award. Mr. Martin was additionally listed in the Most Inspiring People of 200 by beliefnet.com. He became involved in his profession because of a calling from God, and in the coming years, his goal is to expand his ministry and bring more people to become a part of God’s will. Mr. Martin lives by the motto “to walk by faith, not by sight.”
