Highly regarded in his industry, Mr. Diaz has been teaching students tractor trailer driving for more than 30 years. He has served as a driver trainer for Swift Transportation and as a trainer for Walmart, driving close to four million miles. Following his own studies at driver school, he got his first break in the industry through JB Hunt in 1992 as the youngest member of the staff. Showing great prowess in the field, Mr. Diaz has received Intercompany Awards from JB Hunt Transport Services, Inc. and Swift Transportation. He attributes his success to his desire to keeping people safe on the road through proper training and education. Among his plethora of achievements, he is most proud of his service in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Outside of his primary work, Mr. Diaz is a singer, songwriter and musician who has played numerous circuit venues professionally. Growing up, he learned to play guitar, cello, piano, violin, drums and bass guitar, allowing him to begin his music career through performances at small, local venues. Since then, he has gone on tour with notable artists such as Kenny Vance, Molly Hatchet, Willie Nelson, Tom Jones and Greg Allman. Notably, he was the lead guitarist for The Drifters at the age of 20, and he has fond memories of his bandmates calling him “The Kid.” He even performed and recorded music outside of Elvis Presley’s building in the 1970s and played alongside Paul McCartney in the late 1980s. Likewise, he was an administrative producer for the show “Fast Track To Fame.” He is starting a new band with Cary Phillips, a saxophone player of the bands Chicago and Toto and a house band member for “Saturday Night Live,” named Second Chances. Looking ahead, Mr. Diaz hopes to play concerts for various charity organizations, including the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Remington’s Heart Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
