He began his career in farming before transitioning to the construction industry. When approached by the Navy, he recognized that his skills were well-suited to supply chain and logistics.

Mr. Tiehes joined the U.S. Navy in 2003 and served for 15 years in logistics, holding various roles. As a fleet logistics operations manager, he was responsible for the guidance, training, funding, and support of fleet patrol and reconnaissance logistics operations. He directed global logistics operations encompassing 42 organizations across six continents and maintained an internal budget exceeding $100 million annually.

As a logistics operations manager, he was responsible for daily logistical operations, including funding, material movement, requisitioning, site surveys, and organizational supply requirements. He processed over $51.2 million in materials and assets in support of global operations and authored a divisional standard operating procedures manual to streamline the training of newly acquired personnel.

In his role as a department supervisor, he managed workload distribution across 28 individuals, three shifts, and four sites, overseeing a 1,300+ item inventory totaling over $8.8 million and processing more than 1,000 shipments annually. His exemplary service earned him the Joint-Service Achievement Medal in 2012.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Tiehes pursued college coursework. He furthered his education by obtaining a certification as a retail store manager and a certified office manager from the U.S. Department of Labor in 2011.

Furthermore, he is an advocate for the Harvesters Community Food Network and a contributor to the United Way. In his free time, he enjoys woodworking, studying gamification and psychology, and fishing.

A key lesson Mr. Tiehes has learned throughout his professional career is the value of effective communication over exhaustive knowledge. He has found that focusing on clear communication and building a strong team dynamic yields better results than attempting to master every intricate detail of the job.
