Robert Maguire, Publisher, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in publishing administration.
Prior to his professional career, Mr. Maguire pursued higher education first at Champlain College, where he earned an Associate of Arts in 1964. After graduation, he transferred to Husson College, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1967. Later, he went on to study at Boston Unversity, eventually earning a Master of Business Administration in 1987. Early on in his professional career, he served on the board of directors for the Vermont Jaycees from 1968 to 1969. He also served as a member of the Vermont Rep. State Committee from 1969 to 1973.
While serving on the Vermont Rep. State Committee, Mr. Maguire started as a law enforcement administrator for the Governor’s Crime Commission in 1971. He worked there until 1973, when he started as the general manager for The Rutland Tribune and Shopper, accruing experience in the publishing industry. Mr. Maguire’s expertise in finance, accounting, and sales enabled him to excel as a publishing administrator. He established the Maguire Newspaper Group and published a variety of newspapers, including the Bisbee Observer in Arizona and the Poultney News in Vermont.
Mr. Maguire attributes his success to his good work ethic and perseverance. He tried to be as generous to his employees, and to not give up when faced with difficult situations. With his powerful leadership qualities, he was able to overcome any issues he faced, and he grew his business to an annual income of nearly $1 million per year. He was recognized for his success as a publisher by Ink Magazine, which named his company one of the fastest-growing businesses in the country.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Maguire has been an active member of many organizations, both in the publishing industry and in his community. He was chairman of the Windsor County Rep. Committee in 1969, and was a member of the Clarendon Rep. Committee in 1985. He has been a member of the New England Press Association, the Free Community Papers of New England, the Vermont Press Association, and the Arizona Press Association. Additionally, he has been a member of the Vermont Epilepsy Foundation, the Vermont Cancer Society, and has acted as vice president of the Safer Society of America Inc. since 2017. As a testament to his experience and success as a publisher, Mr. Maguire has been featured in the first edition of Who’s Who in the Media and Communication, the third edition of Who’s Who in Entertainment, the 31st edition of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, the 55th edition of Who’s Who in America, and multiple editions of Who’s Who in the East.
