Hung-Fai Stephen Law, PhD, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in computer software and hardware.
As a teenager, Dr. Law exhibited an interest in electronics, tinkering away with anything he could get his hands on. This informed his decision to study electrical engineering in his higher education, and he received a number of degrees from Columbia University that aided in his professional development. He earned a PhD from the institution in 1979 and was well prepared to take on a number of prestigious roles in his career. His most recent position was being a founder and partner at Chiltek LLC in 2012. Prior to that, he was a co-founder and vice president of research and development of Luxvue Technology Corp, a senior director of emerging technologies for Fujifilm Dimatix Inc., an executive vice president for AMOS Technology and a co-founder and executive vice president of XVD Corporation. Earlier in his career, Dr. Law garnered experience with such companies as Alaris Inc, Optivision, Inc., Aptix Corp., Cadence Design System, Bell Laboratories, and as a teaching associate at his alma mater.
The highlight of Dr. Law’s career was being on a team that designed one of the first 32 bit microprocessors when he was at Bell Laboratories. The significance of this achievement was that they were the first ones in the industry and as a result of that, they developed a lot of software that basically evolved into starting the company Cadence Design System. They developed software for people to help people design complicated chips. Dr. Law and his team were recognized with an entrepreneur of the year award for some of the work they did. In addition, Dr. Law has received The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Solid-State Circuit Award in 2000, and a Young Outstanding Electrical Award from Eta Kappa Nu in 1993. He is a life member of the IEEE and has maintained professional affiliation with Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu.
