Michael Lee Bushnell, PhD, Chief Technology Officer at Spectral Design & Test, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership.

Dr. Bushnell’s childhood train set piqued his interest in technology. When it came time for him to pursue an education, he attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and computer science. In 1983, he furthered his education with a Master’s in computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, remaining there for three more years to earn a PhD in electrical engineering.

With his newfound credentials, Dr. Bushnell began working at Rutgers University as a professor in the electrical and computer engineering department. He remained in that role until 2013, though he is still with the university today as a professor emeritus. In 2008, he co-founded Spectral Design and Test, Inc. He remains with the company today as well, demonstrating consistent success as the chief technological officer. Outside of his primary pursuits, Dr. Bushnell has contributed to 29 journal articles and electronic publications and 78 conference papers, as well as authoring 29 technical reports and 56 invited presentations. Further, he holds eight United States patents and two European patents.

In light of his myriad accomplishments, Dr. Bushnell has been abundantly awarded. In 1984, he earned the Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award from Carnegie Mellon University, which was followed by the Presidential Young Investigator Award from the U.S. National Science Foundation in 1990, which only 197 people on the national level receive. Later, in 2006, he earned the N.N. Biswas Best Student Paper Prize from the International Conference on VSLI Design. In 2008, Dr. Bushnell was the recipient of the IEEE Fellow Award. Most recently, in 2019, he was selected to be featured in the Top 100 Magazine edition highlighting individuals of leading academics and industrial researchers. As a further testament to his success, Dr. Bushnell can be found in the 4th edition of Who’s Who in American Education.
