Sandra Holbrook Childs of Neighbors4 Neighbors Inc., Food Bank, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in home economics.
Growing up, Ms. Childs was unsure of exactly what career path she wanted to pursue for her future. Despite her hesitance, she knew one thing for sure, that she always has a strong interest in home economics. Following that interest, she went on to receive a formal education at Georgia College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in vocational home economics. By 1975, she had furthered her education by earning a Master’s in home economics, which additionally came from her alma mater. She returned to school once again in 1987, earning a second Master’s degree in learning disabled education. For many years, Ms. Childs acted as a home economics teacher to middle school and high school students. She additionally served on the local Board of Educators for eight years. Since 2015, she has demonstrated consistent success in her work with Neighbors4Neighbors Inc., Food Bank, for which she creates and formulates hygiene cleaning supplies.
Outside of her primary roles, Ms. Childs volunteers her time at her local soup kitchen, as she is always looking to help others. Furthermore, she was part of a volunteer team that developed a program to teach adults how to read and she continues to help people in need at her local grocery store. Moreover, she contributed extra money collection from Church fundraisers to purchase over 140 $25 pre-paid gas cards for families in need. She attributes much of her professional success to her friends and family, all of whom have been supportive throughout the course of her career. Ms. Childs works and lives by her motto, “If you relive the past, you can only live for the today and for the future.”
