Jean-Yves A. Berthon, PhD, Chief Executive Officer at GREENTECH SA, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in biology.
Since his formative years, Dr. Berthon has always been a deep passion for biology. He thought about the various applications to products he could develop and soon decided to go into opening his own laboratory. His parents were a great influence on his willingness to give and he had great professors like Dr. Gaspare that continued to harbor his love of science. Notably, he earned a Master of Science from Clermont University in 1985 and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Liege in 1994, both located in France.
Dr. Berthon commenced his career in 2000 as president of Laboratories BIOVITIS and remained in the position until 2016. During that time, he also became the president of GREENSEA SA from 2005 to 2016. Additionally, since 1992, he has served as the chief executive officer and president of GREENTECH SA. At GREENTECH, which specializes in the extraction, purification and concentration of active molecules derived from plant matter and sourced from expert growers from more than 40 countries around the world. Essentially, they see their job as delving into the science and investigating traditional herbal-based medicine to ascertain what kind of active compounds are present in different plants and understand their corresponding therapeutic qualities. Today, they are widely recognized as one of the early European pioneers of plant biotechnology.
Looking ahead in his career, Dr. Berthon plans to continue the work he is doing. He seeks to grow in the business and develop strong products for the industry. As a testament to his success, Dr. Berthon received the Innovation Prize from the Council of Innovation and was named Man of the Year in France. He has also been inducted as a member of the French Society of Cosmetics, as well as the president of the Society of Safety.
