In 2010, he returned to San Jose State, where he resumed his former position as a front ensemble coordinator and arranger through 2017, serving in the same role with Branham High School in 2018 and also as a music director with the Evergreen School District from 2009 through 2021. Dr. Bakken is a two-time winner of World Championships in Percussion Ensemble in Drum Corps International and a finalist in the Bank of America Scholarship for excellence in music. Dr. Bakken attributes his success to his late wife Rosemarie for all her encouragement, love, and support, as well as the gratification he fells when his students do well. Being able to perform at the Lucas Oil Stadium in front of 35,000 people on August 11, 2017 has been Dr. Bakken’s most notable accomplishment. It was a 50th anniversary drum corps with Mr. Scott Pearson, who hired him at San Jose State University originally, with the Santa Clara Band. In coming years, he hopes to start an online professorial work where he would teach educators in order to impart his knowledge and expertise in the field of music education
