Since 1997, Ms. Bergenty has provided superior service as president of Plainville Community News, Inc., which publishes the monthly newspaper Plainville’s Hometown Connection, a nonprofit run by an all-volunteer group of residents who are interested in informing citizens of community activities and local news.
In addition to publishing, Ms. Bergenty has served her community as a real estate insurance agent and in local politics as a member of the Republican Town Committee in Plainville for more than six decades, finishing a close second in an election for sheriff in Hartford County. She worked as a coordinator for the governor of Connecticut and in what she considers to be a career highlight, served on the town council for seven terms, three of them as chairperson. Ms. Bergenty has also made an impact as a justice of the peace in Plainville and has played with the Blue Angels basketball team, which is in the Plainville Sports Hall of Fame, and was the past president of the Junior Women’s Club.
