Roy Michael Martens, MBA, BA, Owner at Commercial Financing Resources, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in real estate development.

After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1972 from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, Mr. Martens continued his education with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 1978. From 1991 to 2014, Mr. Martens prospered as owner and operator of a premier real estate funding firm, Commercial Financing Resources, Inc. He was inspired to enter the real estate business by his paternal grandfather, who was an investor in farm real estate and rental property.

Mr. Martens provided superior service as a senior financial analyst from 1981 to 1988 with Agribank in St. Paul, a representative with Dataserv in Eden Prairie from 1988 to 1989 and a lease finance supervisor with Norwest Equity Partners in Minneapolis as well as a contract employment and tax consultant from 1989 to 1991.

Keenly interested in community affairs, Mr. Martins is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, Association for Corporate Growth, Minnetonka Yacht Club, Mankind Project; Board, Community-University Health Care Clinic and the Bassett Creek Redevelopment Oversight Committee. In addition, he is with the Board of Directors of the Community-University Health Care Clinic; the Public Policy Committee of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association; the Legislative Committee of the Minnesota Multi-Housing Association; the Board of Directors of the Association for Corporate Growth-Minnesota; the Annual Conference Planning Committee of the Minnesota Association of Financial Professionals; the Bryn Mawr Neighborhood Association Land Use Community; and the Hennepin County Humane Society.

Mr. Martens attributes his success to his intelligence as well to his discipline and strong work ethic. He considers his most notable achievement to be serving as a member of the Board of Directors in organizations such as the Community-University Healthcare Clinic and the Bassett Creek Redevelopment Oversight Committee. He worked with developers and community members to promote development in a way that would positively benefit the community. Mr. Martens is also currently the treasurer of Seven Feathers Society, a non-profit that assists minority populations dealing with addiction or trauma.
