Michael Durovic, Executive Vice President at Pharos Claims Service, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in insurance claims management.
Since 2013, Mr. Durovic has found much success as executive vice president of Pharos Claims Service, a premier insurance claims firm based in Orlando, assisting customers in receiving compensation for covered losses or policy events. In addition, Mr. Durovic excelled as director of claims with Lighthouse Property Insurance Corporation in Orlando from 2013 to 2019 and Prepared Insurance Company from 2017 to 2019 in the Tampa/St. Petersburg region. He brings over a quarter century of property and casualty claims experience including over 15 in a managerial role. His work history includes employment for insurance companies, TPAs, and independent adjusting firms with responsibility for claim management, training, auditing and adjusting of first and third-party claims.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in engineering and management in 1992 from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, Mr. Durovic later followed with a Master of Science in Management in risk management and insurance in 2015 from the Florida State University College of Business in Tallahassee. He then continued his education with a Bachelor of Applied Science in business and organizational leadership in 2020 from, Valencia College in Orlando.
Mr. Durovic gained valuable initial experience as a line adjuster with Fort Orange Claims Unlimited Services in Newburgh, New York, from 1994 to 1996. He then served as a multi-line adjuster with Arbitrage Adjusting Services, Inc. in Rochester from 1996 to 1997 before excelling as a claims adjuster with State Farm Insurance in its Albany branch from 1997 to 2002. After relocating to Florida, Mr. Durovic provided superior service as a unit supervisor with Cunningham Lindsey International Limited and a claims analyst with the American Integrity Insurance Company from 2003 to 2010 in the Tampa/St. Petersburg region.
In pursuing career-related education, Mr. Durovic has obtained thirty professional insurance designations including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Claims (AIC), Associate in Claims – Management (AIC-M), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Associate in Commercial Underwriting – Management (AU-M), Associate in General Insurance (AINS), Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF), Associate in Insurance Data Analytics (AIDA), Associate in Insurance Services (AIS) and Associate in Management (AIM). He maintains affiliation with Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and he is a past member of the Personal Lines Interest Group and Order of Omega (Greek Leadership Honor Society). Mr. Durovic has authored the books “Understanding the Claims Process: What to Do When Your Home is Damaged,” “Homeowners: Here’s What To Expect From A Water Mitigation Contractor” and “Education and the Looming Talent Gap.”
Mr. Durovic attributes his success to continuous learning. Lifelong learning is important to him and he always tries to learn something to stay current in the industry. The highlight of Mr. Durovic’s career was being a graduate of Florida State University, where he obtained his master’s degree, and currently serves as a mentor in their business management program.
In the coming years, Mr. Durovic hopes to continue to help grow Pharos Claims Service, a company that only had five employees when he joined and has since grown to 70, and contribute to that as well as developing the staff. On a more personal level, he would like to spend time with the family and learn how to play the guitar, which he enjoys a lot.
