Linda C. Castillo, DNP, RN, CEN, Operations Administrator at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing administration.
With more than 45 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Castillo has excelled as an operations administrator with Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital since 1994. During this time, she served as a registered nurse in the emergency department of the aforementioned hospital between 1994 and 2006 and at the Woman’s Hospital of Texas between 2004 and 2014. Moreover, she has been active as an adjunct faculty instructor with Lee College since 2019. Prior to these appointments, she worked as a registered nurse in the emergency room at Baycoast Medical Center from 1989 to 1994 and a staff registered nurse with the Ministry of Health in Trinidad and Tobago from 1977 to 1989. Dr. Castillo began her career as an assistant teacher with the Ministry of Education in Trinidad and Tobago between 1975 and 1977.
Initially obtaining her nursing diploma from a school in Trinidad and Tobago in 1980, Dr. Castillo earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2005, a master’s degree in nursing administration from Walden University in 2008 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in nursing administration from Walden University in 2016. As a testament to his exemplary professional efforts, she was presented with an I Care Award from Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital in 2000, a Nurse Excellence Award from Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital in 2002, a Nurse Innovator Award from the Woman’s Hospital of Texas in 2010 and an Excellence in Nursing Award from the Good Samaritan Foundation in 2018. Drawn to her field in her youth after her positive and influential experiences with a nurse in her village in Trinidad and Tobago, she attributes her success to the support and inspiration she received from her family, especially her father. Among the many highlights of her career, Dr. Castillo most fondly recalls becoming a registered nurse, as the achievement was a dream come true.
