Title: Owner and Consultant (Retired)
Company: The Firm of Jessica A. Steckler
Location: Erie, Pennsylvania, United States

Jessica A. Steckler, retired owner and consultant at the Firm of Jessica A. Steckler, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the fields of education, nursing and consulting.

With over five decades of experience to her credit, Ms. Steckler has cultivated a career of excellence as an educator and consultant. Over the course of her career, she primarily operated as the owner and consultant at her own private firm. Furthermore, she served with the American Nurse Association as an appraiser for their Pathway to Excellence Program from 2011 to 2020. Though she recently retired from these roles, Ms. Steckler remains active in her community, namely with the Waterford Spiritual Group, which she founded in 2008.

Prior to her more recent appointments, Ms. Steckler taught many nursing courses at the York County Vocational Technical School from 1966 to 1973, Hamot Medical Center from 1973 to 1975, and Pennsylvania State University from 1989 to 1992. In addition, she notably served as the chairperson for the medical ethics team at the Erie VA Medical Center, who previously recognized her with a Customer Service Star Award. To remain abreast of developments in her field, she has remained affiliated with the Pennsylvania Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association. Ms. Steckler has also been well regarded for her scholarly output, having contributed as an author in “Transcultural Health Care: A Culturally Competent Approach” in 1997, as well as in the third edition published in 2007. In light of her many accomplishments, she has received numerous accolades, including a Recognition Award from the National Nursing Staff Development Organization and two Special Contribution Awards from the Veterans Health Administration.

As part of her vocational journey, Ms. Steckler pursued her own formal education. Her studies began at Millersville University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in 1971. She subsequently continued her studies at Gannon University, where she received a Master of Education in 1979, and she participated as a doctoral candidate in education at Pennsylvania State University in 1992. In addition to her academic credentials, Ms. Steckler is also certified in staff development, continuing education and medical ethics consultation.

From an early age, Ms. Steckler naturally gravitated towards a career in nursing and education. To wit, she drew a great deal of inspiration from a nurse who cared for her mother, shortly after the birth of her sister. Over the course of her accomplished career, she has been most notably proud to have watched many young students and nurses grow into their professional roles. In the coming years, Ms. Steckler hopes to continue supporting the American Nurse Association as a consultant and offering her services as a clinical nurse where she is able.
