Rod Hernley, President and Owner of Electronic Devices Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in information technology.

An accomplished information technology professional, Mr. Hernley has found success for over 25 years as the president and owner of Electronic Devices Inc., which he started in 1997. EDI is a computer services and information technology company specializing in data, voice, and security systems. Mr. Hernley’s company serves clients in more than 20 states and focuses on providing solutions that minimize the customer’s need for ongoing services.

Before this post, Mr. Hernley spent two decades working for the state of Colorado as the information technology director for the Colorado Department of Personnel, after which he found success as a self-employed computer consultant for 17 years. Prior to finding his current career field, he worked in various roles, including as a newspaper editor and freelance photographer. Mr. Hernley was further a Paralympian, representing the United States at the 1984 Winter Paralympics in Innsbruck, Austria, where he won a Bronze Medal in the Men’s Slalom LW1 event.

As a retired Paralympian, Mr. Hernley has maintained affiliation with multiple organizations, including the United States Olympics Committee’s committee on sports for the disabled, for which he served as chairman from 1982 to 1990. He was president of both the board of directors for the Disabled Sports Association and the Rocky Mountain Handicapped Sportsmen Association. He was also a founding board member of Handicap Media Inc. For his accomplishments, Mr. Hernley received the President’s Award for Outstanding Olympic Service, the Jim Winthers Memorial Award for Service in Disabled Winter Sports, a Distinguished State Service Award and more than 20 medals for national and international disabled ski racing competitions. Recognized as the Advocate of the Year by the Colorado Coalition for Persons With Disabilities, he was likewise inducted into the Disabled Ski Hall of Fame.

In preparation for his career pursuits, Mr. Hernley earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Goshen College in 1966. In the coming years, he would like to write a book about his life to help inspire other people with disabilities to pursue their full potential. Mr. Hernley further hopes to pass his company on to others interested in the work and spend more time on his hobbies, like playing golf.
