Jack Edwin McGregor, Former Chairman, Director and President of Aquarion Water Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law and utility administration.

With almost seven decades of experience to his credit, Mr. McGregor has cultivated a prosperous career in the fields of law and executive administration. He has found success with Aquarion Water Company in Bridgeport, Connecticut, as the president and the director since 1988. The public water supply company serves approximately 700,000 customers throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and it is recognized as the largest investor-owned water company in New England. Mr. McGregor originally served with the aforementioned business as the executive vice president from 1985 to 1988, and he subsequently held the positions of chief executive officer from 1990 to 1995 and chairman from 1994 to 1997.

Mr. McGregor began his career in the early 1960s, working in the field of law as an associate at Reed Smith Shaw & McClay in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He later operated as general counsel for the Pay Board in Washington, D.C., and as an assistant legal adviser of economic affairs for the U.S. Department of State. Likewise, Mr. McGregor was appointed as the vice president of Potomac Electric Power Company and held executive positions with Carey Energy Corporation in New York City and Hampton-Douglas Corporation in Bedford, New York.

Adjacent to his legal duties, Mr. McGregor also became heavily involved in politics as his career progressed. At the age of 28, he became the second youngest state senator to be elected in the state of Pennsylvania as a moderate Republican, serving from 1962 to 1970. Among his other professional achievements, Mr. McGregor is also the founder of the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey club, as part of the National Hockey League.

Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. McGregor pursued a formal education, earning a Bachelor of Science at Yale University in 1956. He subsequently joined the U.S. Marine Corps and honorably served from 1956 to 1959, ultimately achieving the rank of captain. After he was honorably discharged, Mr. McGregor returned to school, earning a Juris Doctor as the valedictorian at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1962. Years later, he received an honorary Doctor of Laws from Quinnipiac University in 1995. In addition to his academic credentials, Mr. McGregor was also licensed to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States in 1971, and he remains affiliated with the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar.
