Following a long and fruitful career as an educator, Since 2020, Ms. Williams has thrived as the chief executive officer of C.H. Vaughan’s Estates, a working farm that has remained under her family’s ownership since 1913. In her current role, she oversees the raising of goats and llamas, in addition to working with a vineyard, an orchard, high tunnel greenhouses and honeybees. Previously, she excelled as a teacher working with students in kindergarten through 12th grade. In this capacity, she additionally mentored her colleagues and coordinated vital services for students with disabilities.
Ms. Williams holds a master’s degree in education in administration and supervision from North Carolina Wesleyan University. To stay informed and to contribute ideas on topics related to her industry, she maintains memberships with FARMS in South Dakota, the National Resource and Conservation Services, and the Farm Service Agency. A recipient of the Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award, her most notable career achievements have been making a profound impact on the lives of her children and maintaining the farm her grandfather purchased nearly 110 years ago.
In the coming year, Ms. Williams wants to produce about 2,700 trees by 2024 and harvest another 27 acres by 2029. She also aspires to bring back butterflies and ladybugs to pollinate the plants on her farmland. She ultimately would like to develop a farm network with other countries and become a global operation.
