Henry L. Rush Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of the Star of Hope Mission, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in community outreach and combating homelessness.

Since 2008, Mr. Rush has served as the president and chief executive officer of the Star of Hope Mission. The organization is a Christian community dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless individuals and families. Under Mr. Rush’s leadership, Star of Hope Mission offers services in myriad areas, including career development, personal development, computer learning, counseling, health clinics, substance abuse recovery, day care, parenting classes, and spiritual programs.

Prior to this position, Mr. Rush was the president and chief executive officer of the PropertyInfo Corporation from 2005 to 2008. From 1992 to 2004, he served as the president, chief executive officer, co-founder, and chairman of the University Towne Building Corp. & EC Power Inc. With decades of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Rush was also the vice president of corporate services for BMC Software from 1990 to 1992 and the president of Summit Computing with the Texas Eastern Corporation from 1987 to 1989. With the Texas Eastern Corporation and Summit Computing, he further served as the director of the corporate information services division from 1984 to 1989, the director of corporate planning from 1983 to 1984, and the director of long-range financial planning from 1982 to 1983.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Rush attended Louisiana Tech University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in computer science, magna cum laude, in 1973. He is an ordained deacon and served as the chairman of the board for AmREIT for eight years. Since 2004, Mr. Rush has been on the board of directors for Bradmark Technologies.

Among his professional achievements, Mr. Rush considers leading the Star of Hope Mission the highlight of his career. He believes that work is about serving others and has enjoyed serving his community since he was offered his current position. In the coming years, he aims to implement broader services for the homeless population of Houston, Texas. Mr. Rush also plans to expand campus activities and continue working toward the long-term success of the homeless individuals and families he serves.
