With 52 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Ralston has excelled as the president of the Virginia Floral Company since 2011. Attributing her success to her passion for the floral industry and her perseverance in continuing her family’s legacy of high customer satisfaction, she is the third generation in a family of florists to own and operate the company, which was established by her grandfather, Alfred Johnson, nearly 120 years ago. Among the many highlights of her career, she is proud to have kept the business thriving through times of difficulty, including the COVID-19 pandemic. As a testament to her exceptional professional endeavors, Ms. Ralston has been presented with the Century Award from the Society of American Florists, and she has been featured in such publications as Florist Review.
To refine her skills within her areas of expertise, Ms. Ralston pursued an education at Mesabi Community College, from which she earned an associate’s degree in general studies in 1975. She subsequently obtained her certification as a master designer by Florists’ Transworld Delivery in 1993 and has attended myriad training seminars and training events within her industry. Beyond her primary responsibilities, she has been active as the president and treasurer for Giftstock Inc., a nonprofit organization that raises funds to purchase Christmas gifts for children in need, since 1999. Looking toward the future, Ms. Ralston hopes to become an accredited member of the American Institute of Floral Designers.
