Since 2012, Mr. Eikenberg has excelled as the chief executive officer of The Everglades Foundation. The organization is committed to a science-driven approach to restoring and protecting the Everglades, acting as an authoritative source for scientific research on the iconic wetlands preserve. With decades of professional experience, from 2010 to 2012, Mr. Eikenberg was a senior policy adviser to Holland & Knight LLP. From 2008 to 2009, he worked as chief of staff in the Executive Officer of the Governor in Tallahassee, Florida, and in 2007, he was the office’s deputy chief of staff. He began his career as the chief of staff to former governor Charlie Crist and former United States representative E. Clay Shaw Jr. from 2002 to 2006.
Holding an associate degree in political science and government from American University, Mr. Eikenberg has additionally served as chair of the Zoo Miami Foundation since 2020. He has been a board member of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, a member and nonprofit sector representative of the Florida Council of 100, and a member of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ environment, natural resources and agriculture transition team. For his accomplishments, Mr. Eikenberg earned The Guy Harvey Conservation Award from the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation in 2022. He was named to the Florida 500 – Florida’s Most Influential Business Leaders by Florida Trend in 2019 and earned an APOGEE Award from the South Florida Business & Wealth magazine in the same year. Among numerous further honors, he was ranked 44th among the Top 100 Most Influential People in Florida by City & State Florida. In his spare time, Mr. Eikenberg enjoys baseball, soccer, basketball, golf, traveling, reading and spending time with his family.
