Harold “Hal” W. Barbour, Chairman of CAST, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in electronics engineering, sales and marketing.
With more than 50 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Barbour is a proven leader in the electronics engineering industry. In 1993, he joined CAST Inc., taking on the role of president for the business as it merged with Lineage Systems, a similar electronics company he had previously founded. A financially conservative company, CAST Inc. is well-regarded for creating high-end semiconductor intellectual property (IP) cores for ASICs and FPGAs, two types of microchips that play an essential role in the operation of various digital computer systems. In 2014, Mr. Barbour exited his role as president of the company, and in 2015, he became the chairman of the board, a position in which he continues to oversee crucial aspects of business strategy.
Having worked under and alongside other industry professionals for many years, Mr. Barbour was uniquely suited to begin his own IP core development company, which subsequently allowed him to find greater success as a member of CAST. Prior to founding his own company and joining CAST, he excelled as the vice president of business development at Racal-Redac from 1988 to 1993. Furthermore, he was the vice president of marketing for HHB Systems from 1987 to 1993. At the onset of his career, Mr. Barbour was the marketing manager for General Radio Inc between 1970 and 1985.
In all of his vocational endeavors, Mr. Barbour has placed a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction and consummate professionalism, treating each of his clients and colleagues as equals. To wit, he is equally focused on developing consistent products with powerful capabilities, making sure to remain true to the core of what each product is supposed to accomplish. Before beginning his career, Mr. Barbour pursued a formal education at the University of New Hampshire, earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1965.
In light of his fulfilling career, Mr. Barbour has largely attributed his success to his strong intuition and a modicum of luck. He is also notably proud of his ability to seek out and take advantage of opportunities as they arise in his field, in addition to his skill in synthesizing and producing practical ideas that allow him to excel in the economic and scientific sectors. Looking to the future, Mr. Barbour remains focused on further developing and expanding the CAST Inc. brand.
