Since 2021, Mr. Spencer has excelled as the managing director of investments with Grubb Properties. In this role, he employs his expertise in commercial real estate, private equity, capital markets, fund management, portfolio management and regulatory compliance. He oversees all fund management, acts as legal counsel for structuring individual deals, works with accounting teams on reporting and investor relations, and coordinates with capital-raising teams. Before his current role, Mr. Spencer was the senior vice president of investments with Grubb Properties from 2018 to 2021. He was an associate with Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice LLP from 2016 to 2018, an associate with Clifford Chance from 2013 to 2016 and a summer clerk with Clifford Chance in 2012.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Spencer attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in history and German language with a minor in journalism. In 2013, he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For his professional excellence, Mr. Spencer was named to the Top 25 OZ Fund Managers by Opportunity Zone Magazine in 2021. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, sports and reading.
