Yemeng Chen, PhD, president of the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care and education administration.
With nearly four decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Chen has cultivated a fulfilling career in the fields of health care and education. Since 2006, he has served as the president of the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, having originally joined the institution in 1996 as an academic dean. In his current leadership position, Dr. Chen oversees various administrative operations for his organization, in addition to teaching classes and treating patients. Furthermore, he remains active as a member of several pertinent organizations, including the National Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Organization and the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.
Throughout his career, Dr. Chen has primarily specialized in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Prior to his current appointment, he excelled as an acupuncture physician for the department of integrative medicine at Huashan Hospital, as part of the Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, in his native home of China in 1989. During his time with the college, he was also the director of the acupuncture department. Over the course his career, Dr. Chen has also earned a positive reputation for his scholarly work, has contributed many articles to professional journals and served as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare.
Outside of his primary duties, Dr. Chen also continues to serve his community as a civic-minded citizen, regularly volunteering with Chinese Medicine Wildlife Protection. Hs is also a former commissioner for the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, he pursued a formal education, earning a bachelor’s degree at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1985. Dr. Chen ultimately achieved a PhD in traditional Chinese medicine at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 2012, and he maintains his status as a licensed oriental medicine practitioner.
To commemorate his accomplishments in the field, Dr. Chen has been honored with several accolades, including the 2022 Premiere Herald Excellence in Healthcare Award from The Long Island Herald. He also recently received the Ceiling Award for International Exchange for Chinese Medicine from the Federation of Chinese Medicine Services in 2020. In light of his fulfilling career, he has largely attributed his success to his contributions to his field, which have allowed him to cement himself as a reliable doctor and educator. In the coming years, Dr. Chen hopes to write and publish three books pertaining to his work in the field, as well as develop a new doctoral program at his institution.
