Larry D. Adams, retired operations supervisor from The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of public administration.
With more than four decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Adams has cultivated a fulfilling career in fields of transportation and public safety. From 1979 to 2015, he operated within The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, holding several noteworthy positions during that time. At the onset of his time with the organization, he served as a records manager and administrator for aviation and technical services at the World Trade Center from 1979 to 1992. He subsequently joined John F. Kennedy International Airport in 1997, working as a property representative for commercial and business development until 1999. Finally, Mr. Adams excelled as an operations supervisor prior to retiring in 2015.
As part of his commitment to his professional endeavors, Mr. Adams remains affiliated with the National Economic Association and The American Society for Public Administration. Furthermore, in his civic-minded endeavors, he continues to serve as a volunteer in his community. To wit, he tutors students in history and reading, assists his local library with digitizing their systems and records, and operates as a counselor for individuals dealing with mental health trauma and addiction. Well-regarded for his professional accomplishments, Mr. Adams was previously honored with Recognition of Excellence from Praxis in 2011.
Over the course of his vocational journey, Mr. Adams pursued a formal education, beginning at Cornell University, where he completed coursework pertinent to his field between 1973 and 1975. He subsequently continued his studies at Excelsior University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts in 1984. Furthermore, he achieved a Master of Public Administration at Long Island University Brooklyn in 1990 and a Master of Library and Information Science at the Pratt Institute in 1998. In addition to his academic credentials, Mr. Adams also holds several pertinent certifications, including a professional library license in the states of New York and New Jersey.
In light of his fulfilling career, Mr. Adams has largely attributed much of his success to his unique perspective in the field of public administration. Furthermore, he is grateful for the supportive community in which he worked, which played a large role in shaping the positive environment he worked in. Accounting for his achievements, he is particularly proud of his work in maintaining airport operations alongside the American Association of Airport Executives. In the coming years, Mr. Adams looks forward to dedicating more of his time to community outreach initiatives and volunteering.
