Steve Anthony Simms, retired correctional lieutenant from the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of law enforcement.
Mr. Simms has cultivated a career of excellence in law enforcement, with more than 30 years of experience to his credit. Now retired, he previously served as a correctional lieutenant for the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia from 2017 to 2021. He originally joined the sheriff’s office in 2009 as a correctional deputy, and during his time with the organization, he also operated as an investigations officer and sergeant. In his prior roles, Mr. Simms was a housing area captain at the Riker’s Island George Motchan Detention Center, as part of the New York Department of Corrections, from 2007 to 2009. He originally joined the detention center at the onset of his career in 1989, working as a corrections officer until 2001.
As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Simms pursued a formal education, studying business management at the State University of New York at Old Westbury from 1982 to 1984. Likewise, he studied criminal justice at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice from 1995 to 1997. In addition to his academic studies, Mr. Simms achieved several pertinent certifications in his field, including in crisis intervention, executive protection, weapons of mass destruction response, and special operations. Accounting for his accomplishments, he has largely attributed his success to his self-determination. Mr. Simms is particularly proud of his progress throughout his career, having utilized all of his knowledge and expertise to great effect in the field.
