Stephen T. Williams, Mayor at City of Huntington, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in politics and public service.
With more than 35 years of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Williams has excelled as the mayor for the City of Huntington, West Virginia since 2012. He previously served as the regional sales manager for the Huntington Investment Company from 2007 to 2012, the director of sales for CCO Investments from 2004 to 2007 and the market manager for Chase Investment Services from 1993 to 2004. He began his career as a delegate for the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1986 to 1994. Among his many professional highlights, Mr. Williams is proud to have led Huntington to be recognized as America’s Best Community in 2017 and the winner of the Bloomberg Foundation’s Mayor’s Challenge Award in 2018.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Williams pursued an education at Marshall University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science on a football scholarship in 1978. He subsequently concluded his studies at West Virginia University in 1980, graduating with a Master of Public Administration. He has attributed his success to his decisiveness and determination to never give up, which became incredibly important to him after the infamous Marshall plane crash. Looking toward the future, Mr. Williams hopes to run for the office of Governor in West Virginia while sharing the story of their small town with the nation and helping the people of his state accomplish solutions together.
