With decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Callahan is currently retired, having excelled as a member of the board of commissioners for the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis for 13 years. He previously found success as the director of recreation and parks for the City of Annapolis for more than 30 years. Notably, he recalls assisting the government of Annapolis during the protests that followed the tragic assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. As a testament to his exceptional endeavors, Mr. Callahan was featured in Outlook By The Bay and presented with the Peacemaker Award from the Martin Luther King Jr. Committee of Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Callahan pursued an education at Washington College, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology and education. Unsure of his direction following his graduation from Washington College, he initially worked for an engineering firm until Mayor Roger Moyer appointed him to an assistant position in the Department of Recreation and Parks. Among the many highlights of his career, Mr. Callahan is particularly proud of contributing to the Housing Authority, which enabled him to upgrade public athletic facilities, swimming pools, community centers and housing for the six public housing communities throughout Annapolis.
