Currently the chief relations and account manager for Doherty Staffing Solutions’ Southern Minnesota office, Mr. Barefield first gained valuable industry experience and contacts in his previous role as the company’s offsite representative for the main office in Jackson, Minnesota. He oversees and mentors a dedicated staff that is focused on providing customized workforce solutions and talent acquisition services to companies doing business throughout the region. Mr. Barefield’s team of experienced recruitment professionals specializes in high-volume, seasonal, and hard-to-fill positions across a wide spectrum of industries. As a result, Doherty Staffing Solutions’ Southern Minnesota office recently produced over $2 million in gross profit and won awards within their company.
Mr. Barefield began his career in 2003 as a healthcare specialist in the U.S. Army. In this role, he acquired new skill sets in personnel training and development, inventory management, supply chain, and logistics in addition to his medical training. For his service and dedication, he was decorated with a Combat Action Badge and a Texas Outstanding Service Medal through the Texas Army National Guard.
During this time, Mr. Barefield also attended McClennan Community College, earning an IFSAC certification in fire science and firefighting. From 2012 to 2014, he expanded his medical skills as a aster plasma center technician for Biolife Plasma Services. It was through his medical and firefighting experiences that Mr. Barefield first developed the philosophy of service and altruism that still motivates him to help those in need, whether in a professional capacity or in his personal life.
After completing his U.S. Army enlistment and college coursework, Mr. Barefield continued his career in the service industry with positions in hospitality and dining. From 2006 to 2012, he was employed by Logan’s Roadhouse restaurant, leveraging his inventory management expertise to improve profits by lowering liquor, beer, and wine costs. He also managed the restaurant at the Regency Hotel from 2014 to 2021, overseeing a staff of more than 30 employees and hosting events with over 1,000 attendees.
In addition to his burgeoning career, Mr. Barefield devotes much of his free time to charitable causes. He assists fellow armed forces members as a volunteer for Veterans of Foreign Wars, He also contributes to Big Brothers/Big Sisters and volunteers at local animal shelters. Mr. Barefield attributes his continued success to his close-knit family, mentors, and managers who have shared their experiences. Above all, he takes pride in fostering a positive team dynamic based on a two-word credo: “Be Nice.”
