Sevim Öz, vice president of import development at MTS Logistics, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in logistics management and analyses.
In her present role at the aforementioned freight forwarding service company in New York City, Ms. Öz is responsible for creating solutions and opening new import areas, leading, training, and working with overseas teams, and managing customer and partner relationships, including in Europe, the Middle East, and China. She proudly cites her career highlight as significantly increasing MTS Logistics, Inc.’s import business in 2020 while training and building a department of 20 people and bringing in substantial revenues, which resulted in her promotion to vice president. Immigrating to the United States in 2016, Ms. Öz was born and educated in Turkey, where she earned a Master of Business Administration from Ege University, a bachelor’s degree in economics from Dokuz Eylül University, and a diploma with honors from Urla Lisesi. A current member of the Social Sciences Research Academy, she is a former editor for the Social Science Research Society at Sobiad.
Beyond being an expert in her field, Ms. Öz attributes her success to her people-focused approach to management. She believes that understanding, caring, listening, and getting to know employees and customers allowed her to achieve her career goals. She also credits her abilities as a highly responsive, reliable, organized, proactive problem solver focused on meeting client and business needs, along with her strong communication, analytical, decision-making, and project management skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced business environment with frequent priority changes. Mentors also have greatly influenced her, including an economics professor she will always remember when she was an undergraduate.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Öz was an import operations manager, a key account manager, and an import operations analyst at MTS Logistics, Inc. Before joining the company, she held such positions as a senior account executive at SBB Shipping USA, Inc., in export operations at Rota International, Inc., and as an accounting assistant at Vestel, an electronics, appliances, and information technology company in Turkey. In the coming years, Ms. Öz hopes to advance her career by helping emerging colleagues to improve professionally. For her, mentoring, advising others to trust and believe in themselves, and seeing them reach their goals will be the true measure of her success.
