Dr. Okemgbo is pursuing initiatives for the future to recycle scrap from a solar panel company in Atlanta and transform it into solar lanterns and, separately, develop a portable solar power box to offer a more affordable alternative energy source. A member of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers and formerly active with the American Chemical Society, he also is conducting ongoing research and making discoveries in the treatment of wastewater along with educating others and installing solar energy systems in his home country of Nigeria. Additionally, he is expanding his work in agriculture to include cropping, food processing, and animal husbandry.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Okemgbo was a chemist for the Washington State Department of Ecology and a senior scientist at Advanced Technologies and Laboratories in addition to working closely with the Research & Technology Group and at the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant. In preparation for his career and achievements, the author of various scientific and scholarly papers earned a master’s degree in environmental law and policy from Vermont Law and Graduate School and a PhD in chemistry from Washington State University. A father of four sons and three daughters, Dr. Okemgbo is an evangelist, president of the Skills Development Mission, Inc., in Kennewick, Washington, and author of the book “Pop the Question, Get Yes, Get Married: A Marriage Guide for Christian Singles and Young Married,” published by the Family Prayer League and available on Amazon and through other booksellers.
