Prior to this position, she served as a mathematics curriculum manager for Apex Learning Inc. from 2021 to 2022 and a content design manager for Edmentum Inc. from 2022 to 2023. She was previously active in multiple capacities for WHRO Public Media between 2014 and 2021, including as an online course content writer, a video course content writer, a video course content instructor and an online course development project manager. Ms. Whitehead began her career as a mathematics teacher for Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Virginia between 2005 and 2015.
To support her professional ambitions, Ms. Whitehead pursued an education at Old Dominion University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a focus on secondary education. She concluded her formal studies at Regent University, graduating with a Master of Education in educational leadership focus. In addition to these accomplishments, she obtained her postgraduate professional licenses in the administration and supervision of central office and mathematics for Pre-K through 12th Grade in Virginia. Recognized as the Teacher of the Year by Granby High School in 2007, she was presented with the Jack and Jill Leadership Award in 2008 and nominated for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2015. Attributing her success to her drive to achieve, her competitive nature and her desire for a challenge, Ms. Whitehead hopes to continue finding challenges within her work while making an impact through her meaningful endeavors.
