Richard Holton, Subject Matter Expert with the City of Miami Police Department and Chief Training Consultant with Dr. Rick Holton & Associates PA, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
Dr. Holton is an accomplished professional with more than 45 years of experience to his credit. Since 2012, he has worked for the City of Miami Police Department as a subject matter expert. In 2005, he became the chief training consultant to his business, Dr. Rick Holton & Associates PA. In this position, he is responsible for developing coursework and running instructor training workshops and supervisory training. Dr. Holton started his career as a police commander with the Miami-Dade Police Department in 1974 and remained with the department for 30 years. From 1994 to 2011, he shared his expertise as a professor of conflict resolution with St. Thomas University.
In preparation for his career, Dr. Holton attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in political science in 1973. In 1992, he obtained a Master of Public Administration from the University of Miami. Following his accomplishment, he concluded his formal education at Nova Southeastern University in 1994, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in organizational leadership and education, with a specialization in multicultural diversity and conflict resolution. Alongside his formal degrees, Dr. Holton is a certified family mediator, certified trainer through the Criminal Justice Institute, and Certified Kingian Nonviolence Practitioner through the Florida Martin Luther King, Jr. Institute for Nonviolence.
Dr. Holton has found success in myriad endeavors aside from his primary pursuits. He was the founder, president and chief executive officer of the Teen Police Academy and was an elected councilman of the Village of Coconut Grove in Florida. He served as a consultant with The Miami Coalition for a Safe and Drug Free Community and was the chairman of the Coconut Grove West Land Trust Inc. To keep abreast of his field, Dr. Holton has maintained affiliation with the Coconut Grove Local Development Corporation, the South Florida Human Rights Council, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives and the Executive Development Institute. In the coming years, he plans to continue finding success as an instructor and contributor to law enforcement.
