Since 2021, Mr. Murphy has been the president of Gatlin Plumbing & Heating Inc. in Griffith, Indiana. Having excelled with this company, his family’s business, over more than 30 years, he began his career as a laborer for the organization in 1993, a position he held until 1999. From 1999 to 2003, he was a staff accountant with Bansley and Kiener LLP, after which he returned to Gatlin Plumbing & Heating Inc. as an estimator. In 2013, Mr. Murphy became the vice president of the company, and in 2021 he progressed to his current position as the president.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Murphy attended Indiana University Northwest and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1998. For his professional excellence, he received Road Construction Project of the Year in 2010. Mr. Murphy is proudest of the longevity of his family’s business and is grateful to serve as the third-generation president of the organization while supporting fourth-generation employees. In the future, he hopes to expand the firm and increase the company’s marketing share while promoting interest in building careers. In his spare time, Mr. Murphy enjoys spending time with his family and running marathons.
