Mike Smith, Executive Director of the Southwest Human Resource Agency, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
In his role as the executive director of the Southwest Human Resource Agency, Mr. Smith contracts with the state and federal government to manage multiple programs and services. He sees that programs run correctly and meet the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ standards. He has managed a Head Start program serving more than 400 children. Mr. Smith’s work helps to ensure that children are safe, well-fed and have access to quality education. In addition to this work, he has operated a community services department that manages low-income energy assistance programs.
Prior to his role with the Southwest Human Resource Agency, Mr. Smith served as the mayor of McNairy County from 1994 to 2005. Committed to public service, he also enlisted in the Tennessee National Guard. He is a founding member and past chairman of the McMurray Central High School Sports Hall of Fame and has operated as the president of the Tennessee Association of Human Resource Agencies. For his contributions to his community, Mr. Smith received a Community Betterment Award in 1998. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors.
