Mobeen Hasan Khaja, OOnt, President of The Association of Progressive Muslims of Canada, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nonprofit administration.
With many years of experience to his credit, Mr. Khaja has excelled as the founder and president of the Association of Progressive Muslims of Canada since 2001. Prior to this position, he found success as a banking professional in Pakistan for 14 years. Noted as the first vice president of the Multicultural Council of Oshawa/Durham, he formerly contributed to the Pickering Race Relations and Equity Committee, the Organized Peace and Community Harmony Open Forum, the Muslim Educational and Cultural Association, the Ottawa Asian Heritage Month Society and the Canadian Federation of Intercultural Friendship, among other organizations. Furthermore, Mr. Khaja was active as a producer on the film “No Distance Between Us.”
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Khaja pursued an education at Karachi University in Pakistan, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in international relations and economics. Following this accomplishment, he received an Honorary Doctorate of Law from Trent University in 2021. Attributing his success to his determination, patience and tolerance, he was notably presented with an Ontario Volunteer Service Award in 1996, 1999, and 2001, the Order of Ontario in 2011, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012, the Senate’s 150th Anniversary Award in 2017 and the Canada 150th Anniversary Award from Peace Quest in 2017. Inspired by Hillary Clinton, he is incredibly proud of establishing an organization through which he can make a significant impact on the lives of others. Looking toward the future, Mr. Khaja hopes to step down from his present position upon finding a suitable replacement, which he hopes to be a woman.
