A dedicated believer in servant leadership, Mr. Wong has earned acclaim through his role at Exelixis, a genomics-based drug discovery company, since 2022. As an executive director, he is responsible for leading the technical services team, through which he plays a pivotal role in developing effective information technology strategy at the corporation. With over three and a half decades of experience as a systems engineer and team leader to his credit, Mr. Wong previously availed himself at a number of prominent organizations, including Gilead Sciences, Kaiser Permanente, Wells Fargo, Novartis and Siemens Medical Solutions, beginning in 1987. Outside of his primary endeavors, he also served as a volunteer IT consultant with Ronald McDonald House from 2006 to 2009, and as a volunteer researcher on artificial intelligence applications at the University of California Berkeley from 1989 until 1991.
Before embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Wong studied information and computer science at the University of California Irvine, where he attained a Bachelor of Science in 1986. Throughout the course of his subsequent career, he is most proud to have designed processes and technology for a variety of organizations in the pharmaceutical, telecommunications, finance, business consulting, and software development industries. Looking toward the future, Mr. Wong aspires to help further advance his goal of creating a resilient and robust organization – one that can withstand and adapt to unexpected crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
