With more than 10 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Burghard has excelled as president of Reel Action Advisors Inc. since 2015. In that role, he has operated as a subject matter expert in the entertainment industry. He additionally worked as a technical consultant on “NCIS: Sydney” for CBS, Australia and as an associate producer on “NCIS: Los Angeles” for CBS in 2023. Mr. Burghard Sr. began his career as a technical advisor on seasons 4 through 14 on “NCIS: Los Angeles” from 2012 to 2023.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Burghard pursued an education at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science. He completed his studies at Troy University, where he graduated with a Master of Public Administration in 1989.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Burghard has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He notably held the role of a special agent in the Naval Criminal Investigation Service (NCIS) from 1984 to 2009. Previous to this appointment, Mr. Burghard enlisted in the military in 1977, serving in the United States Marine Corps and elevated through the ranks of Private through Lance Corporal, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1979. He retired from the Marine Corps in 2007, having ultimately advanced to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Burghard remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has contributed to Long Beach City College and is a member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers’ Association, the NCISA, an association of largely retired NCIS personnel, and Mensa International Limited. Mr. Burghard has also maintained his affiliation with Pi Alpha Alpha, the National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Burghard has accrued several accolades throughout his career. During his distinguished military service, he was presented with the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart Medal. Moreover, a documentary about his recovery and professional accomplishments won a Telly Award and was nominated for a PRISM Award by the Entertainment Industries Council. He attributes his success to the idea that failure is not an option. In the immediate future, Mr. Burghard hopes to remain a part of “NCIS: Sydney” in addition to working on other television shows.
