Saundra Blocker Carr, PhD, Adjunct Professor at Benedict College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in organizational coordination.
With 40 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Carr has excelled as the Governor’s professor of the year staff coordinator at the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education since 1988. She began her career at the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education and carried out multiple concurrent roles including as an academic common market state coordinator from 1983 to 2022, institutional effectiveness staff coordinator and administrative assistant since 1984, and program coordinator from 2009 to 2022. She worked as assistant vice chair of the Richland County Democratic Party from 2008 to 2011 and has excelled as an adjunct professor at Benedict College since 2021.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Carr pursued an education at Voorhees College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in organizational management in 2005. She continued her academic efforts at Webster University and graduated with a Master of Arts in human resource development in 2008. She concluded her studies at Walden University and obtained a PhD in management in 2017.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Carr has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She was a member of the National Democratic Party and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. She held the role of board member at Turning Pages, Incorporated, vice chair of the Richland County Democratic Party, and participated with her local church.
Dr. Carr’s most notable achievement is obtaining her doctorate as she is the first college graduate in her family. In the immediate future, she intends to obtain a real estate license to help people find and sell homes, especially in challenged communities.
