Jaime R. Patiño, Councilman of the City of Union City, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law enforcement.

With nearly 30 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Patiño has excelled as city councilman, of the City of Union City since 2018. He maintained his involvement with Union City as commissioner of the human relations commission from 2012 to 2018 and vice mayor from 2021 to 2022. He began his career as a resource center technician and substitute teacher at New Haven Unified School District from 1995 to 2000. He worked for Delta Dental Plan California from 2000 to 2001 in accounts receivable before transitioning to Design Within Reach as the distribution center office manager from 2001 to 2004. At Blue Shield of California, he established himself in network management from 2004 to 2008.

Mr. Patiño served as an accounting assistant at Sundberg, Martinelli, Novy & Ward CPA from 2008 to 2010 before transitioning to the Haas School of Business as an assistant manager and financial analyst from 2011 to 2012. He was recruited to the University of California, Berkeley where he held the role of administrative officer in 2011 and as research administrator from 2012 to 2016. He garnered expertise at Kaiser Permanente as a grant administrator from 2016 to 2017 and a contract manager since 2017.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Patiño pursued an education at Chabot College where he earned an associate of arts in administration of justice and business administration in 1995. He continued his academic efforts at California State University, East Bay and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2000 and a Master of Business Administration in 2010. He holds a senior officials workshop for hazard preparedness certification from Texas A&M, a human resources and project management certificate from California State University, East Bay, and is a notary public in the State of California.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Patiño has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He sat on the board of directors for seven committees and was a lead executive on ten more. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the National League of Cities Community & Economic Development Committee, the National Association of Latino Elected Officials, the Economic Development Advisory Team, the Latino Caucus, the Hispanic Elected Local Officials, and the Community Emergency Response Team.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Patiño has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with the Certificate of Advanced Leadership by the Mayors and Council Members Academy and the Certificate of Appreciation by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. In the immediate future, he hopes to resolve a structural deficit in the city budget before transitioning out of his current position and either taking a role in a nonprofit or pursuing elected office.
