Dr. Johné Battle, the senior vice president and chief diversity officer at the Dollar General Corporation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Well-regarded as one of America’s leading specialists in human capital and talent development, Dr. Battle has distinguished himself as the founder and chief executive officer of The Inclusion Genius Factory, through which he serves as an industry consultant on navigating the ever-evolving challenges of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). As an effective educator and executive, he has strived to enshrine the importance of inclusion before all other considerations, and has been recognized with a wealth of accolades for his efforts, including featured appearances in Fortune Magazine, induction into the Inclusion Hall of Fame, recognition as a Top 100 DEIA Leader by the Los Angeles Times, and three consecutive listings within the Top 100 Diversity Officers by the National Diversity & Leadership Council, among other plaudits to his credit.

Outside of his work in consulting, Dr. Battle is the senior vice president and chief diversity officer at Dollar General Corporation – a major retail presence in some of the most disadvantaged communities across the United States. In this capacity, he leads DEI efforts on behalf of over 170,000 employees across more than 19,500 locations throughout the country. Previously, he worked as a senior client partner at Korn Ferry, for which he aided in DEI leadership development practices and employee engagement. Prior to this position, Dr. Battle found success in various roles of high leadership at Johnson Controls, J.E. Battle & Associates LLC, Walmart, the J. Rushman Group, Gridiron Technologies LLC, MSL Combines LLC, L3 Technologies LLC, and Warner Records, beginning in 1993.

Homeschooled during his youth, Dr. Battle earned a Bachelor of Applied Science at Mercer University in 2008. Following this accomplishment, he attained an MBA at the Goizueta Business School at Emory University in 2010, a Master of Education in learning leadership at the University of Pennsylvania in 2012, and a Doctor of Education in work-base learning leadership at The Wharton School in 2020. Eminently qualified in his field, he has also received numerous certifications in business education, strategic leadership and technology.

In accounting for his prosperity, Dr. Battle largely credits his own grit and perseverance, as well as the influence of his wife, whose unwavering support has enabled him to exert a profound impact on the lives of many. Looking toward the future, he aspires to continue leading efforts at Dollar General to become the most inclusive retailer throughout the globe. Dr. Battle also looks forward to the launch of a new venture, The Greatness Factory, which is set to function as a thought leadership platform and exploration of the strategies and actions that lead to success.
