Lafayette Hamilton, the president of the Houston Chapter of the Blacks in Technology Foundation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of professional mentorship.
In his role at the Blacks in Technology (BIT) Foundation, a nonprofit organization that seeks to expand Black representation in the technology sector, Mr. Hamilton draws from more than 25 years of experience in the technology field as a mentor, coach, trainer, and valued resource on behalf of young professionals. For his impeccable accomplishments in this regard, he was bestowed with the BIT Champion Award in 2022. Outside of his work at BIT, Mr. Hamilton also avails himself as the executive director of the PRYDE Foundation, which provides technical assistance and career development guidance to young adults from underprivileged backgrounds. Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Hamilton is the author of “The Only Way Is Up,” a self-help guide that aims to assist young adults as they adjust to the ever-evolving professional landscape.
After taking coursework in college, Mr. Hamilton joined the U.S. Navy, through which he learned the value of dedication, doing things to the best of his ability, and always working to inspire others. Notably, it was in the military that he was first introduced to computer technology, which provided the foundation for his subsequent career journey. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hamilton aspires to establish a housing community for veterans, whom he hopes to educate on the subject of self-sufficiency. Additionally, he hopes to become involved in his local chapter of Rotary International.
