Motivated by a great passion for her community, Ms. Jones has distinguished herself in her role as the associate vice president of government relations and advocacy at HeartShare Human Services of New York since 2023. In this capacity, she oversees utility and food assistance initiatives in collaboration with prominent utilities throughout New York, building and nurturing strategic partnerships with New York legislators, orchestrating events to ensure aid reaches constituents, and formulating policy for low-income and poverty-related matters in government. She also deals extensively with the Energy Assistance and Community Development Department, which provides utility grants and assistance to low and moderate-income families. In recognition of her various contributions, Ms. Jones has been featured in Government Business Review Magazine, and was interviewed by the LIHEAP Leadership Channel.
Outside of her primary efforts, Ms. Jones maintains active participation with various coalitions that address poverty, food insecurity, and energy issues. Furthermore, she has been serving as the board president of the National Energy and Utility Affordability Coalition for the past two years, having held an executive position for a 15-year period. Among her greatest accomplishments, she is particularly proud to have exerted a positive impact on the lives of tens of thousands of families every year. She firmly upholds the value of helping others, no matter how small that contribution may be, and is consistently amazed and humbled by the opportunity to help others. In 2019, Ms. Jones was honored with a New York State Commendation Award, along with the Sister Pat Kelley Award, in recognition of her exceptional contributions to addressing community needs, advancing public policy and spearheading energy initiatives.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Jones looks forward to her retirement within the next decade, but aspires to contribute to the expansion of HeartShare Human Services of New York’s global recognition and impact in the meantime.
