With 40 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Polk has excelled as founder, site coordinator, and executive director at Pivot Ministry, Inc. since 2015. She began her career as vice president of Corporate Planning and Analysis and sat on the executive committee at Integon Insurance, now GMAC Insurance, from 1983 to 1992. She worked as director of operations services and customer service at the Sara Lee Corporation from 1992 to 1994. As chief operating officer, she established herself at the Salem Group from 1995 to 2000 and at Royster Smith Shelton & Co., P.C., from 2000 to 2003. She garnered a stellar reputation as president and co-founder at Global Pet Products, Inc. from 1999 to 2006 before being recruited as chief administrative officer at Bell, Davis & Pitt, P.A. from 2006 to 2015.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Polk pursued an education at Mississippi College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics in 1974. She continued her academic efforts at Wake Forest University School of Business, graduating with a Master of Business Administration in 1989. In addition to her primary vocation, she remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She sat on the board of trustees at North Carolina Baptist Hospital from 2014 to 2018. She was a member of the United Way of Forsyth County’s Women’s Leadership Council Steering Committee, the Center for Congregational Health, Wake Forest Baptist Health and the Piedmont Triad Entrepreneurial Network.
In light of her impressive undertakings, Ms. Polk has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry. She was presented with the Women’s Vision, Women’s Empowerment Award, the Babcock Builder Award, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Teenagers of America Award in 1970.
