With nearly 15 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Salva has excelled at Configure8 Communications as a network security architect, strategist, innovator and owner since 1996 and a network resilience and security expert since 2022. He began his career as a solutions architect at PAETEC Holding Corporation before being recruited as senior manager of Global Cybersecurity Network Security and Resilience from 2009 to 2022. Previous to these positions, he served in the United States Army, concluding his service at the rank of E-4 Specialist.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Salva pursued an education at DeVry Institute of Technology, DeVry Educational Development Corp. where he earned a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications and electronics in 1996. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in telecommunications management at same. He holds certifications as a Cisco Certified Network Associate and as a Cisco Certified Network Professional from Cisco Systems, Inc.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Salva has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He is highly dedicated to community involvement, mainly with national labs such as Argonne National Laboratory and universities in the Chicagoland area, the largest telecommunications hub in the United States. Through his efforts, he has worked on various development initiatives and contributed to developing new technologies. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a board member at the Technology Lab of the Illinois Institute of Technology from 1999 to 2004.
Mr. Salva believes his success comes from his ability to innovate and design new and advanced technology. Of his many career highlights, a notable accomplishment that stands out was his participation in a program by the United States government which published National Information Security Technology regulatory standards. Additionally, he conducted a qualitative survey to assess the maturity level of cybersecurity technologies that a global commercial bank had in place. Through this process, he identified immature technologies that were below the required level of maturity and helped establish processes towards maturing the technology over a five-year period.
In the immediate future, Mr. Salva plans to partner with companies like Verizon or Motorola, which have the necessary resources to support his project. He aims to create a secure encrypted portal that allows people to connect to the public internet while protecting their intellectual property, credentials, and online banking from hackers.
