With nearly 40 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Olmstead has excelled as a tax consultant with Newday 101 since 2020. Prior to this position, he was active as a tax partner with EY from 2000 to 2005, the director of taxation for PIMCO and U.S. Group for Allianz Global Investors from 2005 to 2008, the director of global taxation with Russell Investment from 2009 to 2011, and the director of taxation for Bridgewater Associates from 2011 to 2020. He previously served as a senior researcher for the International Bureau Fiscal Documentation in Amsterdam, The Netherlands from 1985 to 1987, a manager for Arthur Young & Co. in New York, New York from 1987 to 1989, the vice president for Citibank in Brussels from 1989 to 1994, and the managing director and global head of taxation for group governance and risk committees for UBS Investment Bank from 1994 to 2000. Mr. Olmstead began his career as an associate with Rycken, Burlion, Bolle & Houben in Brussels from 1984 to 1985.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Olmstead pursued an education at California State University, Fresno, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1979. Completing coursework in comparative law at the University of Salzburg in 1982, he continued his academic efforts with a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of the Pacific in 1984. He concluded his formal studies at Vrij University in 1985, obtaining a Master of Laws. In addition to these accomplishments, Mr. Olmstead graduated from the advanced management programs at Harvard University and Northwestern University.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Olmstead has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. A member of the International Tax Discussion Group, he has contributed as a U.S. reporter with the International Bureau for Fiscal Documentation since 1988 and a country representative with the American Tax Institute in Belgium since 1990. Moreover, he has elevated his community through donations to the Greenwich Town Party. He has also been affiliated with the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association. Likewise, Mr. Olmstead found success with his published works as well, having worked as an editor for “Managing International Bank Taxes” in 1988 and a contributing author for more than 100 articles featured in business and legal journals.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Olmstead was presented with a scholarship from the McGeorge School of Law at the University Of The Pacific in 1982. He has attributed his success to his flexible approach to each unique situation, a trait he refined during his time as an exchange student patiently learning new languages and customs at the age of 17. Among his career highlights, he is incredibly proud of his early recognition and anticipation of the impact of FATCA on the banking industry. Looking toward the future, Mr. Olmstead hopes to expand his work to an international level while embracing his passion for culture, travel, diversity, and global impact.
