Eric Chavez, retired area vice president at USPS, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in executive management.

Mr. Chavez initially obtained a Bachelor of Science in business management from the University of Phoenix in 2004. He then augmented his knowledge with an executive program certification from Harvard Business School in 2005. Beginning on his career path, Mr. Chavez boasts a distinguished trajectory within the United States Postal Service (USPS), commencing as operations support manager for the southern area in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, from 2012 to 2015. 

Mr. Chavez’s career advanced as he assumed the mantle of district manager at USPS from 2015 to 2019. Subsequently, his expertise and dedication propelled him to area vice president at USPS from 2019 to 2020, where he oversaw 90,000 employees in a region encompassing New England, parts of New York and New Jersey, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. After a 35-year career with the postal service, Mr. Chavez retired in 2020, transitioning to freelance endeavors while leveraging his extensive experience and insights gained from his high-ranking stations at USPS. 

Alongside his executive responsibilities, Mr. Chavez delivered impactful career guidance speeches to large audiences, with his most significant engagement reaching 3,000 attendees. His passion lies in inspiring individuals to embrace leadership roles and foster environments where people are encouraged to lead rather than solely adhere to directives. Mr. Chavez also received notable accolades, including the Postal Service’s National Engagement Leader of the Year Award in 2017, highlighting his exceptional dedication and impact on the organization. 

Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan, who announced Mr. Chavez’s retirement, praised his “steadfast focus on his customers, co-workers, and employees” and his “reputation for building teams that delivered results.” In reflecting on his career, he attributes his success to his exceptional treatment of people, dedicating time to mentor younger executives and managers, and fostering a positive and ambitious work environment. He also plans to leverage his extensive experience by offering consulting services to the post office, its competitors, or partners in a freelance capacity. His overarching goal remains inspiring individuals to become leaders and influencers in their respective roles, emphasizing the importance of people-centric leadership approaches.
