David M. Shingleton Jr., MSc, a contracting officer at Defense Media Activity, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in supporting military operations.
Hailing from over 10 years of experience in his chosen profession, Mr. Shingleton has found success in his role as a contracting officer at Defense Media Activity, a program of the U.S. Department of Defense that seeks to inform, educate and entertain various audiences through a wide range of high-quality multimedia products. In his capacity at the organization, Mr. Shingleton provides mentorship and oversight for a team of contract specialists, whose work he must approve before tax dollars can be committed to any particular project. Prior to his current endeavors, Mr. Shingleton worked within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and served as a contract specialist and officer for the Defense Commissary Agency between 2016 and 2022. During this time, he is most proud to have facilitated the contractual registration and trademarking of commissary brands – a first for a military grocery store, and a significant milestone in his career journey.
Holding a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Eastern College and a master’s degree in risk, crisis and disaster management from the University of Leicester in England, Mr. Shingleton began his professional efforts in fire and emergency services, but later transferred into the military to offer his logistical expertise. In accounting for his subsequent success, he largely credits his upbringing, which was characterized by his father’s 50-year tenure in the passenger bus industry. Mr. Shingleton’s father instilled in him a dedication to working hard, playing hard, and committing to the task at hand. Likewise, his experience in the military and in civil service has been instrumental in shaping his career path. Looking toward the future, he aspires to eventually retire and focus on community service.
