Ron Williams

Title: Auditor
Company: Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
Location: Maryville, Tennessee, United States

Ron Williams, an auditor for the State of Tennessee, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of regulatory compliance.

Hailing from over 40 years of service in his chosen vocation, Mr. Williams has found success as an auditor for the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities since 2001. In this capacity, his primary task is to audit people who are living with disabilities, primarily to ensure that the funds they have received from the Social Security Administration have not been misallocated. Likewise, he audits agencies for funds used for programs and services that are utilized by those living with disabilities. Dedicated to ensuring that regulatory compliance standards are followed across the board, Mr. Williams notably conducted over 35 audits in the year of 2023 alone.

Prior to his current endeavors, Mr. Williams worked for the Outboard Marine Corporation for over 15 years, beginning as an accounting clerk and later serving as an associate engineer and manufacturing engineer between 1982 and 2000. Now defunct, Outboard Marine was the world’s largest manufacturer and supplier of outboard motors and second largest producer of powerboats. During his time with the company, Mr. Williams benefited richly from the tutelage of a highly competent comptroller, who ran their department with great efficiency. Under their guidance, he learned the importance of doing things the right way and acquired the necessary skills to excel at whatever task he set himself to.

Mr. Williams studied locally at a community college in North Carolina, after which he earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration, with an emphasis on accounting, at Western Carolina University in 1993. Throughout the course of his subsequent career as an auditor, he is most proud to have cultivated a keen eye for detail, and to have exposed a number of significant fraudulent activity. For this, he has become highly regarded for his role as an audit investigator for the state of Tennessee. Considered a resource for his adroit approach to complex issues, Mr. Williams has come to take great pride in his work, and always finds the motivation to help ensure accountability and transparency in operations.

Now 64, Mr. Williams aspires to continue working until the age of 72. His main goal is to ensure that his retirement income is maximized to its fullest possible extent. While he does not seek a promotion for his work at the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, he remains committed to performing his job with excellence and serving on behalf of others.
