With 45 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Sawyer has excelled as founder and chief executive officer of SawyerOne Performance since 2009. His company provides fractional or part-time chief financial officer services as well as executive coaching. He began his career as a tax executive for Ernst & Young from 1978 to 1985. At AXA Financial, he contributed as vice president from 2004 to 2006 and as executive vice president-Kentucky at AXA Financial Services from 2006 to 2008.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Sawyer pursued an education at Roanoke College where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1974. He continued his academic efforts at the College for Financial Planning, graduating with a Master of Science in financial planning in 2003. He holds certifications as a financial planner, public accountant, and global management accountant.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Sawyer has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He contributed to the American Heart Association, the Cancer Society, the Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of CPAs.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Sawyer has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was recognized as Financial Adviser of the Year by Investment Advisor Magazine in 2004. In the immediate future, he plans to continue working until he reaches 80 years of age if his health allows and pass along his knowledge and skillset to his young partner.
